Let's Have Some Real Talk...plus my September Book Haul Vlog!

Let's Have Some Real Talk...

September was hard. Really hard. It's always harder when there's a big event going on, but there was so much more, too.

You know it's a hard month when you finish reading a mere three books. THE LAST WEEK. (One was a skim re-read and one was a book I'd been working on when I felt well since August! The third was short! ^^;;;;)

I was sick for half of August, which whittled down on my prep time. Then, bad allergies and more illness kept me down for the first half of September. Thankfully, my nephew had his second birthday on the 9th and someone told me to try a different allergy medicine, and then there was a coupon to save $10 in the paper. (And also that I should take it every day, even when I feel fine, which I did not know, this being my first year with allergies!) So I switched and while I still have bad days (The last two days were a little hellish), I've been feeling MUCH better. Although I've still be sleeping a bit more than normal because I've been so weak, ugh. Hopefully October will feel fantastic!

Mandy and Jana also had various ailments, so it was hard for us to get the event to the level it needed to be. We still had a lot of fun, and hope you did as well, but we know it could have been so much better!

So I'm sorry I didn't have the energy to promote more or do more or have more authors here like I wanted, but I just couldn't keep on top of my email or my time!

BUT some giveaways are still going on, so won't you take a peek?

Magic, Myth and Mischief!

Thank you guys so much for taking part in Magic, Myth, and Mischief.

What did you love about the event? What would you have liked to see more of?

Do you want us to repeat this next year??? Because we could talk about fairy tales and mythology forever

I know my only regret is that I wanted to read more, review more, do more. I honestly had to pull out a lot of old reviews and bring them back to life, and that's lame during an event when it should all be fresh and fun. And because of that, I had more of a fairy tale slant when I wanted more of an even mix. But I still had fun!

Check out the Schedule of Events both here at A Backwards Story and over at That Artsy Reader Girl!

Fairy Tales, and mythology; dragons and fae and mermaids, oh my!!!

I'm now on Instagram // Pictures of the Month

It only took me 100 million years, I know, I know.

I can't guarantee that I'll ever be as amazing as the best bookstagramers, but you if you want to follow me, I can be found here @abackwardsstory!

Here are some of my favorite pictures from September:

AUGUST BOOK HAUL!

I decided to do something different this time and made a book haul video, which some of you recommended.

IMO, book haul videos are always so LONG, but since you guys like them, I'm willing to give it a try.

BUT I KEPT IT UNDER !0 MINUTES!!! Which is awesome since, like, there were SO MANY books! ^^;;;

Should I continue, or nah?

Here's the video:

But if you don't want to watch it, here is a quick shot of my July haul!

Middle: For review

MUSIC 🎶

Now that it's fall, there's so much new material! I was really impressed with a lot of songs from Kesha's new album Rainbow and have listened to them a lot. I just picked up Wonderful, Wonderful from The Killers, and now that it's October, Kelly Clarkson and P!NK both have new ones on the way, too!!!

I've also been watching/listening to some filmed musicals lately, mostly old favorites like Sweeney Tood and Into the Woods and Hairspray.

MOVIES AND TV

We watched the first episode of Marvel's Inhumans this past weekend and enjoyed it. I'm excited to check out Gifted and the reboot of Once this week as well!

That was my September.
