Week in Review & IMM: The "I have a functioning computer again!" edition!

IN MY MAILBOX: 02.05.12

In My Mailbox was created by Kristi at The Story Siren because:

"I get books to read and then ultimately share my thoughts about with my readers. As much as I want to, I can’t possibly read every book I receive. Yet, I still wanted a way to feature those books on the blog, even though it might not be in the form of a review. Problem solved! Every week I'd share the books I received that week... ones I'd bought, or gotten at the library, and ones that I'd receive to review on the blog. That way I could mention titles that might not otherwise get some face-time on The Story Siren..."

I find the same thing happening at A Backwards Story. I'm so backed up on reviews atm... That's why I like these videos!

*INCARNATE by Jodi Meadows Swag and a chance to win the grand prize in the INCARNATE Theater Treasure Hunt, including an annotated copy of INCARNATE from the author! (Ends 02/06)

**I'm behind on choosing new giveaway winners.  I'll catch up this week.  So you still might have won CINDERS or INCARNATE or EVERNEATH!!! (But entering IS officially over, sorry!)**

*THE WARRIOR HEIR by Cinda Williams Chima (My first time reading this highly-praised book/author!)
*WINTERLING by Sarah Prineas

[link to my GoodReads account so you can see my blurb feed as I read]

*RIVALS by Daisy Whitney

The "I have a functioning computer again!" edition!

Granted, I still think I'll re-format/re-install everything when I have a few days off this week and can think and fuss around, but for now, I have a real computer.  Which means real blog posts.  Huzzah!

*FINAL FANTASY XIII PS3 game, strategy guide, and episode i novella (Best Buy pre-order bonus gift)
*INCARNATE by Jodi Meadows (which I loved, loved, LOVED and you have a chance to win just by entering the INCARNATE Theater Treasure Hunt here on A Backwards Story!

*EMBRACE by Jessica Shirvington (Which you may recall I snagged at work last week, afraid I wouldn't get the ARC from Sourcebooks for the tour in time...and yet, here I am!!  So to another fortunate person it goes ^_^  And check out my tour stop in March!)
*LOSS by Jackie Morse Kessler (Thanks to the author, her publicist, and NetGalley.  Look for my blog tour stop in March!  I was lucky enough to participate in the RAGE Tour last year, and have reviewed both HUNGER and RAGE on A Backwards Story.  Check it all out!)
*FROI OF THE EXILES by Melina Marchetta (Thanks to Netgalley!)
*SIRENZ: BACK IN FASHION by Charlotte Bennardo and Natalie Zaman (Thanks to Netgalley!)

And Introducing...

*My new betta!  Some of you may recall that my female betta, Aria, passed away during A Week of Cinderella. (Here's a brief video starring her!)  Here's my new little boy! He doesn't have a name yet (Want to help me name him?)

He swam out of the picture as I tried to take it.  (EVERY TIME....he's camera shy...), but doesn't this look like he has a mermaid tail?  Check out the end of my video to see him in better quality.  I'd love help coming up with a name! ^_^

What did you get in your mailbox this week?

Livre De Amour-Books of Love Blog

    1. Thanks, Grace!

  4. Glad to hear your computer is fixed. And you got some awesome books this week. I am extremely excited to read Embrace, which I also got this week. Hope you enjoy all of your books.

    Here is mine: IMM (13)

    1. Thanks, Justin! So am I. It's been such a heartache!

Will you be doing the EMBRACE tour as well?

  5. I can't wait to read Incarnate i think i have it coming to me so i'll have to read it soon! Thanks for stopping by my IMM!

  6. first off! i LOVE that photo of your fishy's tail! ohmygoodness! would you be mad if i painted it sometime???

second! oh WOW! beautiful, beautiful covers this week! i really need to look up final fantasy and study their art! i'd totally forgotten that even existed! you rock bonnie!

    1. Aw, Vic...!! I wouldn't be mad at all! I would be honored to have you paint his tail. I'd love to see it if you like how it comes out!

FINAL FANTASY really does have gorgeous art. In college, when I first started fooling around with Photoshop, I entered a bunch of weekly icon-making challenges. I vowed to enter every week even if my icons looked like crap. There was a Final Fantasy one and a CLAMP one that had the bar set SO HIGH on design, so I knew that if I ever won, I'd made something good and was finally GETTING IT. I'm still proudest of some of my FF icons! :)

  7. Congrats on your new fish! I'm awful with names (all of my childhood stuffed animals were named "Puppy") but I hope you come up with a good one soon.

I'm curious to see what you think of the second Sirenz book. I liked the first, but I'm not sure if I liked it enough to read the second.
