Hi bookworms!!!
I have some REALLY fun news to share with you! If you didn't already know that I was obsessed with musicals (You mean yesterday's awesome news wasn't a big hint!?) or haven't heard me talk about Hamilton the Musical (or slip in a random Hamilton quote somewhere), yet, well, I'm just going to have to come over and take away that rock you've been living under! ^.~
Being that Hamilton inspired an interest in learning more about the history of Alexander Hamilton, Elizabeth Schuyler, and everyone else who lived during the Revolutionary War. And really, I'm not much of a history buff. I couldn't have told you much about Alexander Hamilton other than that he was on the ten dollar bill. And then Hamilton happened. And then...the world turned upside down.
Recently, I discovered that Melissa de la Cruz was publishing a new YA novel in April entitled ALEX AND ELIZA. It is the love story of Alexander Hamilton and his eventual wife Elizabeth Schuyler. Melissa de la Cruz has always been a fan of Elizabeth Schuyler--she even named the main character in her 2006 vampire series Blue Bloods Schuyler Van Alen after Elizabeth Schuyler. After seeing Hamilton, her daughter was OBSESSED (Good taste!) and being a good mom, de la Cruz started looking up some of the history--and wound up falling in love with Alex and Eliza's love story.
SO NOW WE HAVE A BOOK!! And it's out soon--in APRIL!!!
Yesterday, I received a review copy in the mail from Penguin Teen, and it was perfect timing, since yesterday was ALSO the day I began blogging for Broadway World.
The package was ADORABLE. It came with a huge ALEX AND ELIZA sticker on the back of the bubble mailer, a print-out of the Entertainment Weekly release that helped me first hear about the book, AND some absolutely adorable Valentine's Day Cards!!!
As I was posting the package's cuteness on Twitter last night, I got the BEST idea.
I want to share some treats with YOU GUYS. Some Valentine's Day cheer. Some Hamilton love. Some ALEX AND ELIZA anticipation.
Soooooooo.....
How would you like to WIN one of these cute Valentine's Day cards!?
Want a closer look?
This is actually going to be a Twitter competition.
All you have to do is follow @abackwardsstory on Twitter (if you don't already?) and retweet THIS TWEET. That's it!!! (It's also pinned to my page, so you can find it that way as well.)
I figured I'd post about the contest here, too, to give you guys a chance to enter if you wanted to. Twitter moves so fast that it can be hard to hear about fun things like giveaways!
SUMMARY:
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Witches of East End and The Descendants comes the love story of young Alexander Hamilton and Eliza Schuyler.
1777. Albany, New York.
As battle cries of the American Revolution echo in the distance, servants flutter about preparing for one of New York society’s biggest events: the Schuylers’ grand ball. Descended from two of the oldest and most distinguished bloodlines in New York, the Schuylers are proud to be one of their fledgling country’s founding families, and even prouder still of their three daughters—Angelica, with her razor-sharp wit; Peggy, with her dazzling looks; and Eliza, whose beauty and charm rival that of both her sisters, though she’d rather be aiding the colonists’ cause than dressing up for some silly ball.
Still, she can barely contain her excitement when she hears of the arrival of one Alexander Hamilton, a mysterious, rakish young colonel and General George Washington’s right-hand man. Though Alex has arrived as the bearer of bad news for the Schuylers, he can’t believe his luck—as an orphan, and a bastard one at that—to be in such esteemed company. And when Alex and Eliza meet that fateful night, so begins an epic love story that would forever change the course of American history.
In the pages of ALEX AND ELIZA, #1 New York Times bestselling author Melissa de la Cruz brings to life the romance of young Alexander Hamilton and Elizabeth Schuyler.
