THE TIMELINE OF EVENTS

Okay guys, not gonna lie: I had totally forgotten about Charming, the upcoming movie from 3QU Media, created by Shrek producer John Williams. Charming was announced in 2014, to be the first movie produced from the company thanks to the help of a group of investors, according to Variety.

When I first talked about it here at A Backwards Story, I stated that the movie would launch in 2016.

Now we're in 2017, and IMDB states that the movie has been/will be launched in Greece on July 6, 2017, South Africa on August 4, 2017, and Hungary on February 14, 2018.. IMDB doesn't yet list as Canadian, US, or UK release dates, but Movie Insider states TBA 2018, as does the official page on Cinesite (See below).

I was initially nervous at the film's quality because it has taken so long to bring to production, but looking up information today and discovering that it's being produced by a small start-up that needed investment backing to become a reality, I understand it so much more and am eager for more information again!

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Unless it has changed a lot since conception, Charming is going to be reminiscent of the movie John Tucker Must Die. Three fairy tale princesses, Snow White (Avril Lavigne), Cinderella (Ashley Tisdale), and Sleeping Beauty (G.E.M.) find out that that they have all been dating Prince Charming (Wilmer Valderrama). Nobody knows that Charming himself is under a curse, and it's about to become permanent. But maybe he'll find love with Lenore (Demi Lovato), the one woman NOT to fall for his charms???

THE FULL, OFFICIAL SUMMARY (From Cinesite.com)

Charming is an upcoming American-Canadian 3D computer-animated musical comedy film directed and written by Ross Venokur. Set for release in Spring 2018, it is the first in a multi-picture deal between Cinesite and 3QU Media.

‘Charming’ is centered around a twist on fairy tale convention that involves all three princesses: Snow White (Avril Lavigne), Cinderella (Ashley Tisdale) and Sleeping Beauty (G.E.M.) who find that they are somehow engaged to the same man: Prince Charming (Wilmer Valderrama).

Cursed as a child, Prince Philip Charming compulsively proposes to every woman he encounters, leaving a trail of lovesick ladies and scorned lovers to wreak vengeful havoc on the Kingdom. Ultimately, Prince Philip’s exasperated father, King Charming, gives the young Prince an ultimatum… Find a true, true-love before his 21st Birthday or lose all claim to the throne.

The animated feature is being produced by John H. Williams (Shrek, Valiant) for 3QU Media.

BUT WHAT MADE ME REMEMBER THE MOVIE?
(AKA THE TRAILER!!!)

My mom made a comment about seeing a trailer for Charming on Facebook, and had I heard of the movie? I...had not seen the trailer and had not thought of the movie in a while! (At the time, I didn't realize that I heard about it all the way back in 2015! I just assumed it was last year!)

I went on YouTube and I could not find the trailer ANYWHERE. It doesn't seem to exist. (Or maybe it's just because the word "charming" is so general that it pulls up hits like "this charming movie" and not the TITLE of the movie. Maybe I needed to dig deeper...) There's a lot of junk offering fake versions of the full movie--and even fake trailers!

SOOOOOO I decided to use my friend Google. It brought me to Movie Trailers Now, a Facebook page that stores movie trailers. Since the trailer is no place else, maybe it's been pulled to be modified? Or maybe just pulled until closer to release?

Unfortunately, because it's a Facebook video, I can't embed it directly into this post. But you should be able to watch it even if you don't have Facebook!

What do you think? Will you be watching it in 2018?

I'm tentatively excited, but I do want to see more clips! And I'm intrigued by the fact that they hired singers to play the various characters, which means this might be a musical! I AM hoping this movie is good because I'm certainly rooting for it!!! It definitely has potential!
