COVER CRAZY(S): THE SELECTION, GRAVE MERCY, ENDLESSLY

Cover Crazy is hosted by The Book Worms. Each week, bloggers "admire the art and beauty of a book’s design, so I’m going to post minimal words. It is up to you to write how you feel and what you like about it the way you’d like to."

This week, the covers that made me DROOL were all reveals! I couldn't feature just one, so I featured all three, with a little bit on what I like about each one!

COVER REVEAL:

This cover is frothy like cotton candy, reminiscent of a girl in her pretty prom dress. At the same time, this coloring works. THE SELECTION by Kiera Cass is a mash-up of dystopian, The Bachelor, and kingdoms. Wearing an ice-blue frou-frou dress trying to snag a prince as your husband looks completely proper. Pretty Dress Syndrome, this cover is not.

To make it even more intriguing, it's not JUST a girl in a pretty dress. Her reflection is repeated over and over, from every angle, as though every inch of her is being inspected. Is it a mirror, or is it ice with all the grit in the background?

I also like the way the title sits beneath a crown, revealing a hint at the fact that princes and princesses are waiting!

There's finally a cover for GRAVE MERCY by Robin LaFevers! While I'm not precisely sure when this went live, I was happy to see it pop up on Goodreads this week. I've been curious about what the cover will look like since the ARC has a plain jacket.

I must say, I like this a lot! This cover has atmosphere. It's definitely a fantasy, though with the weapon she's wielding, she could also be a vampire slayer (Not saying she IS because I know she isn't, but the paranormal crowd might see this and pick it up!!). Her dress is lovely and fits the time period. I love the building in the background.

I'm also really glad the title placement remains the same, as does the beautiful script used for "His Fair Assassin" (the series title). I also enjoy the tag line and am glad it stuck around for the cover reveal!

And finally, the cover for ENDLESSLY by Kiersten White has been revealed! This trilogy has such PRETTY COVERS!! Does it suffer a little from Pretty Dress Syndrome? Yes, definitely! The dress worked for the first book because there was an applicable scene, but not the second time around. Will there be a scene with a pretty purple dress the third time around? Wait and see!

And purple. It's PURPLE. My favorite color in the entire world...and some of my favorite hues, no less. Her dress is the color of the pajama top I'm wearing. Pretty, pretty! I can't wait to see the full jacket art; this is one series where the design always wraps onto the back and forms a complete picture.

I love everything, from her positioning, which causes her hair to blow nicely, to the way her dress is swaying, to those beautiful flowers and moody clouds in the background! And those lips! I so want Evie's lipstick!

What do you think? What cover are you crazy about this week?

  1. Ooh, very nice! I especially like The Selection. The dresses look sort of like snow covered evergreen. Neat!

  2. Oh darn it, you beat me to it. I was going to feature (and probaby still will) The Selection. Is just awesome! I also am fond of Grave Mercy, but Endlessly, well not so much. Not enough illustrative elements, too photographic for my tastes.

  4. I discovered the cover for The Selection just last night... It's really pretty! I love the one for Endlessly. I love the color purple, too! That's why I absolutely love the color for Endlessly :) The one for Grave Mercy is pretty cool, and I kind of like their choice for the title font because something else probably would've been too distracting since there's kind of a lot going on. Great choices today!

  5. Grave Mercy sounds awesome! Love a good traditional fantasy so I'm hoping it doesn't stray too far into the paranormal area. Her dress is very striking! And Endlessly is beautiful - I still need to read Supernaturally, LOL :D
