Word Count Wednesdays (11)

Word Count Wednesday is my way of sharing my weekly writing progress with you and holding myself accountable for not giving up.

So without further ado, this week's "Word Count" for Super-Secret Project/Codename: FIZZYPOP:
(Why Fizzypop? IDEK...it sounds fun!)

This week: 4 pages
Total to Date: 106? pages (Must have it all typed soon so I can give you REAL data!)
Start Date: March 2, 2011

How far is this in terms of a word count? I'm not sure. I get 150-400 words per page depending on how small I'm writing and/or how many cross-outs I have. (Plus, that gets me an extra round of editing!)

Nothing special is going on in my writing this week. I was still getting over my love of the OTHER character with the same name as my MC. It's hard to write when you see someone else! Tonight, I went to a signing with Alyson Noël and she talked about how she writes. I think maybe I should start waking up earlier to just write in the morning, esp. in the summer as it gets hotter... (OMG, 100 degrees today! Need an AC soon...)

I'm halfway done typing chapters three and four for my next writing critique. I should have sent it last week, but it was too hot to have the computer on!

That's how my week went! Do you have a WIP at the moment? What was your word count this week? To date? Let's support one another! This week, I hope you were as inspired as me!!!

  1. Ok, you HAND WRITE your books and then type them up? Oh my, that's a lot of extra work. Why don't you start by typing them into a word doc?
Wouldn't it be easier and quicker? I'm so much faster at typing then hand writing? Aren't you?

    Just curious?

  2. good job. It is hard to write in the heat. I do my best writing early in the morning or late at night. Night time my muse is in overdrive. Don't know why, but she is. You have made some great strides, keep going, you are doing great.

  3. @Gina: Absolutely! I can type fast, yes, but I'm always fixing my errors. It makes me stop and think and I lose my train of thought. It stops the inspiration. Plus, if I hit delete on the keyboard, it's GONE. Sometimes I go back to things I initially crossed out! And I can scrawl notes in the margins to come back to. Maybe it's just to go buy toothpaste, but it could also be a seating chart at a lunch table so I know where everyone is sitting or the eye/hair color of a character so I know w/o going back to look it up.

Plus, as soon as I type it up, I automatically have a second draft because I edit as I type!

For me, this method works! Plus, I'm more cozy/comfy curled up with a notebook than hovering over a computer. *shrug*

  4. @Bookish Brunette: 4 pgs is not good. But I did 14 on Thurs & 4 yday, so I'm already doing better than I have in a while. And feeling good about it again!

@Lena: Oh, I know! It's so hot that the last thing I want do is write--esp. when there's no AC! I write the best in the morning as well. I think for the summer, I'm going to just say screw sleep and wake up early to write!
