Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

To participate:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!) Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

THE THRONE OF FIRE by Rick Riordan

"'I hope you live after all, Sadie Kane. You're quite amusing. But if they do kill you, at least enjoy the experience!'"(~pg. 189 [US hardcover edition, available TODAY])

And would you like a peek at how vividly descriptive Riordan can be? Yes? I thought so :)

"But the man in white looked as if his eyes had been splashed with acid, then repeatedly clawed by cats. His eyelids were masses of scar tissue that didn’t close properly. His eyebrows were burned away and raked with deep grooves. The skin above his cheekbones was a mask of red welts, and the eyes themselves were such a horrible combination of blood red and milky white that I couldn’t believe he was able to see."
(~pg. 42 [US hardcover edition, available TODAY])

Goodreads Summary here.

Actually, I just finished reading this one. Did you see my review yesterday when I launched Mythological Mondays?

  1. Wow! That's some teaser. Sounds like one of those books that I stay up all night reading! Thanks for the post.

  2. Now that is a teaser. My TT: http://www.rundpinne.com/2011/05/teaser-tuesdays-wrecker.html

  3. I can't wait to read this one! Thanks for all the comments on my blog about Kristin Cashmore, etc. I didn't realize my comments were hidden, so am now off to fix it. I read somewhere that Sept is the release date for Bitterblue, I hope I am right.

  4. Great teaser. I loved the Percy Jackson series so I should definitely get the books in his other series.

  5. I read the descriptive part too. That man is gross. Hope he doesn't follow me to bed tonight.

  6. Rick Riordan is an awesome children writer. I say children because I have never read his grown up book...I am so behind in his books though :-(

  7. Great teaser! I have to get threw most of the Percy Jackson series then I plan on starting these books, and I can't wait to get to them!

  8. Thanks so much for the heads up about my comments being hidden, there was some box that mysteriously unticked itself. And sorry about the misinformation about Bitterblue. I've fixed it now. I swear I did read that though... I can't wait for it to come out.

  9. Oh that's a good teaser! I have the first book but still haven't got to it! I'll have to try to fit it in soon!

  10. Oh wow, that is descriptive! I've only read one of his books before, Lost Hero, but I really liked it!

My TT can be found here!

  11. Book two is already out?! I need to get my hands on the first book! I loved his Percy Jackson series, I did check out the first book but then I went out of town for a week and had to return it sadly, but thanks for reminding me to recheck it and go back into the wonderful world Rick Riordan creates!!!

    Here is my TT, http://miss-check-out.blogspot.com/2011/05/teaser-tuesday-willow-by-julia-hoban.html

  12. Guess what?! I mentioned you on my blog hop this week. =)

  13. The only Riordan I've read so far is The Lightning Thief. I really should finish at least that series. :( I just read a book that was way longer than it needed to be, that's always frustrating.
