This year has been a lot harder for all of us (as you can see in how infrequently I've been able to muster up the energy to blog -- I'm working on that!), but one GREAT thing to have come out of it is the amount of virtual events for readers! In-person signings aren't possible at the moment, but there have been so many virtual signings, and many of them are ones I wouldn't have been able to otherwise attend due to being so far away from me!

Publishers are trying to interact more with readers and hype books in new ways, and today, I am extending an invitation to you on behalf of Macmillan Fierce Reads to attend a LIVE virtual cover reveal event for one of the publisher's biggest books of 2021: FIREKEEPER'S DAUGHTER by Angeline Boulley, described as "a heart-pounding, groundbreaking, own voices YA thriller about Daunis, a Native teen who goes undercover to expose corruption in her community."

Fierce Reads states that Boulley "writes about her Ojibwe community in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and her career has focused on improving the education of Native American students at the tribal, state, regional, and national levels."

Fierce Reads is asking everyone interested in the book to RSVP on Crowdcast and attend a LIVE virtual reveal of the cover plus conversation with Boulley this Thursday, July 16th, 2020, at 6 p.m. EST.

THE DETAILS:

When: Thursday, July 16th from 6:00 - 6:30 ET

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Title:  FIREKEEPER'S DAUGHTER
Author: Angeline Boulley
Release Date: March 2, 2021
Publisher: Henry Holt Books for Young Readers / Macmillan
SUMMARY:

Debut author Angeline Boulley crafts a groundbreaking YA thriller about a Native teen who must root out the corruption in her community, for readers of Angie Thomas and Tommy Orange.

As a biracial, unenrolled tribal member and the product of a scandal, eighteen-year-old Daunis Fontaine has never quite fit in, both in her hometown and on the nearby Ojibwe reservation. Daunis dreams of studying medicine, but when her family is struck by tragedy, she puts her future on hold to care for her fragile mother.

The only bright spot is meeting Jamie, the charming new recruit on her brother Levi’s hockey team. Yet even as Daunis falls for Jamie, certain details don’t add up and she senses the dashing hockey star is hiding something. Everything comes to light when Daunis witnesses a shocking murder, thrusting her into the heart of a criminal investigation.

Reluctantly, Daunis agrees to go undercover, but secretly pursues her own investigation, tracking down the criminals with her knowledge of chemistry and traditional medicine. But the deceptions—and deaths—keep piling up and soon the threat strikes too close to home.

Now, Daunis must learn what it means to be a strong Anishinaabe kwe (Ojibwe woman) and how far she'll go to protect her community, even if it tears apart the only world she’s ever known.

Are you excited for this live virtual reveal!?
