Okay, TECHNICALLY, this came out yesterday. So it's a bit of a belated birthday. ^^;
 I wanted to post today, however, because I wanted to talk about a very special event taking place tonight!

Kacen Callender has previously written under their former name Kheryn Callender, and the books have been a mix of YA and MG contemporary titles. This is their first adult fantasy novel.

The world is inspired by the Caribbean Islands and deals with colonial oppression, the need for revenge, and, of course, a touch of magic!

When Sigourney is a child, her entire family is murdered solely for the color of their skin and the way the other Kongelig feel threatened by them. Sigourney manages to escape and hide out under a cousin's name, and now, as an adult, she has been invited to Hans Lollik Helle during the storm season. Her heritage is revealed, and the Kongelig once more feel threatened, especially the members who had a hand in murdering her family. After the storm season, the childless king will choose his successor from the members of the Kongelig, and someone is killing them -- and everyone is blaming Sigourney and her powerful kraft that allows her to see and control the thoughts of the people around her, or will she become the murderer's next victim?
