Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight and discuss the books we're excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they're books that have yet to be released. It's based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine. |
Hi Bookworms!
Do you ever get that tingly feeling when you stumble upon a book that you didn't even know EXISTED? One where you SHOULD know about it, because the author is popular and it sounds super fierce and it has a kick-ass cover, but everyone seems to be keeping mum?
I mean, seriously, how have I NOT heard about THE GUINEVERE DECEPTION by Kiersten White? It comes out this fall on November 5th from Delacorte Press, and I already know I need to read it.
I haven't read too many books from this New York Times Best Selling Author yet, to be honest. I read her debut PARANORMALCY and the first book in her latest series, AND I DARKEN. I purchased THE CHAOS OF STARS and the MIND GAMES duology as e-books, and always forget to read them because they hide in my nook library where I can't see them. ^^; I also recently received a book box with her new novel SLAYER in it. So I have lots and lots to read. Plus *ahem* series to finish.
I've been intrigued by her books, and heard such great things about her, but have yet had to find that book that I instantly knew I NEEDED, you know? But a retelling? You know I need those instantly. And one involving Camelot!? And Guinevere??? And it stars Guinevere in a new, fierce way that will make heads turn the way AND I DARKEN did?
And just LOOK at this cover:
Can I have it now, please? It's a looker!
This rendition of the tale sounds so fierce and page-turning. I mean, just check out the summary:

Title: THE GUINEVERE DECEPTION
Author: Kiersten White
Author: Kiersten White
Release Date: Nov. 5, 2019
Publisher: Delacorte Press / Penguin Random House
From New York Times bestselling author Kiersten White comes a new fantasy series reimagining the Arthurian legend, set in the magical world of Camelot.
There was nothing in the world as magical and terrifying as a girl.
Princess Guinevere has come to Camelot to wed a stranger: the charismatic King Arthur. With magic clawing at the kingdom's borders, the great wizard Merlin conjured a solution--send in Guinevere to be Arthur's wife . . . and his protector from those who want to see the young king's idyllic city fail. The catch? Guinevere's real name--and her true identity--is a secret. She is a changeling, a girl who has given up everything to protect Camelot.
To keep Arthur safe, Guinevere must navigate a court in which the old--including Arthur's own family--demand things continue as they have been, and the new--those drawn by the dream of Camelot--fight for a better way to live. And always, in the green hearts of forests and the black depths of lakes, magic lies in wait to reclaim the land. Arthur's knights believe they are strong enough to face any threat, but Guinevere knows it will take more than swords to keep Camelot free.
Deadly jousts, duplicitous knights, and forbidden romances are nothing compared to the greatest threat of all: the girl with the long black hair, riding on horseback through the dark woods toward Arthur. Because when your whole existence is a lie, how can you trust even yourself?
