Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.
Every once in a while I participate in this one when I either
1) Like the theme, and/or 2) Have the time!

This week's topic:
Top Ten Books By My Favorite Authors That I Still Haven't Read....
Which I modified to RETELLINGS I haven't yet read!

Fitting in with our event,I'm highlighting ten fairy tale/mythology themed books I've discovered that I haven't gotten around to reading yet!

Have you read any of these? Are they on your TBR? Which ones should I read first!?

In no particular order...

1) IT STARTED WITH GOODBYE and EVERYWHERE YOU WANT TO BE by Christina June

These books from Christina June have been on my radar for a while, but I haven't gotten around to picking them up. Both books are contemporary with some fairy tale backbone in the structure. IT STARTED WITH GOODBYE has elements of Cinderella and EVERYWHERE YOU WANT TO BE  was inspired by Little Red Riding Hood.

BONUS: She has a third book coming out next year entitled NO PLACE LIKE HERE that sounds like it will have the breadcrumbs of Hansel and Gretel in it! ^_^

2) OLIVIA TWIST by Lorie Langdon

I have been trying to get to this one all year, since maybe January. Then it came out around March, and it's STILL sitting in my "immediate TBR" stack waiting for some love! Oliver Twist had a very specific place in history, and I always have to be in the right mood to read historical fiction! I've read a lot of contemporary this year. ^^;;;

3) ROCK-A-BYE BABY by L.R.W. Lee

I was hoping to get to this beauty in May, and then I didn't read anything in May and am STILL playing catch-up. ROCK-A-BYE BABY is the prequel to LULLABY, which released earlier this year and is about the life of a Sand Maiden (Yep, this series is Sandman lore meets THRONE OF GLASS--it even has a Charlie Bowater cover!). Ack, it's even more embarrassing I haven't been able to squeeze it in because the author is so nice and I'm on her street team!

4) The Magnus Chase trilogy by Rick Riordan

I didn't have time to dive in when the first book came out, and when the second one did, I decided to wait until the final book in the trilogy was out and just read them all together. Well, they're all out now and I just need to find time to squeeze the three of these in. They taunt me from their shelf and whisper promises of amazing stories forged from Norse mythology!!!

5) QUESTS FOR GLORY by Soman Chainani

Another book I'm so ashamed I haven't read! I am so obsessed with the first trilogy and have been SO excited for this sequel trilogy--which is full of King Arthur lore! I haven't had time to dive in, though. I ALMOST read it as my Birthday pick in July, then decided to go with WILDCARD instead. I hope I'll be able to read it before the end of the year

6) HEART OF IRON by Ashley Poston

Anastasia in space from the author of GEEKERELLA? Okay, yes! Need I say more? I had an ARC of this and then I got a copy in Owlcrate box earlier this year (With the most gorgeous purple stained pages, no less!) But have I had time to read this beauty? No! At this point, I'm waiting until the second book comes out so I can read them back to back. I just need to have TIME when that time comes!

7) SPINDLE FIRE and WINTER GLASS by Lexa Hillyer

Another duology where I decided to wait until both books are out and then haven't gotten to either book! I even got to meet Lexa Hillyer last year at Books of Wonder during BEA and it made me want to read SPINDLE FIRE even more than I already did! AND it's about sisters! And Sleeping Beauty. AND JUST ALL THE THINGS!!!

8) SHADOWSONG by S. Jae-Jones

WINTERSONG, S.Jae-Jones debut novel, is heavily influenced by both Labyrinth and The Goblin Market. It ends cleanly, but I'm excited to see where this road takes us next! I bought SHADOWSONG the day it came out, but just haven't had time to get back to this world. I'm trying to remember; I may have even re-read WINTERSONG to get ready for this one...which I now have to do again, lol!

9) THE SURFACE BREAKS by Louise O'Neill

I am ALWAYS up for a
Little Mermaid retelling, especially when the cover is this gorgeous! I pre-ordered this baby from the UK because I knew it had no US release date. YOU GUYS, I filmed a cover design vlog the day it arrived, thinking I'd read it really soon. THEN I held off on sharing it until this month because I knew I'd read and review it for Magic, Myth, and Mischief. I still have an unread book and an unpublished video about this little book baby! ;_;

10) The Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer

I was going to read this when it was a trilogy. Then I held off because it had become a quartet. Then it became unknown how long it would be. When the sixth and final book came out, I wondered, is it really the final book!? It is, though, and now I just need to make time to fit in six books because I waited so long. But I feel I'll really love it, since it's in the same wheelhouse as Soman Chainani's School for Good and Evil series, which I absolutely adored!
