On Tuesday when I was going through my 2016 list (117 titles strong and counting!) to find the debuts for Top 10 Tuesday (er...Top 20 this week? ^^;;), I scrolled past AND I DARKEN by Kiersten White. AND I THOUGHT THIS.

Last night, I came home from work and started going through my email (It's been two weeks since I did THAT, too! It wasn't just you that got abandoned, bookworms!!! My email is SCARY right now...) and, guess what? Yesterday, there was a Cover REveal of AND I DARKEN by Kiersten White!

Meant to be or what!?

Are you ready to see this AWESOME cover and hear more about the book, a gender-bent historical retelling of Vlad the Impaler (A person who served as the basis Bram Stoker used for Dracula), and the first book in a new dark YA trilogy!?

Isn't it BEAUTIFUL!?

A mix of hard and soft, or as Kiersten White says in this AWESOME Cover Reveal Post on Bustle yesterday, "I love that the delicate flower and the sharp spear — both familiar book cover images — are combined in a striking and unexpected way. In a series about loss of innocence and the things that are destroyed in the pursuit of power, I can’t imagine a better cover."

And now, take a look at the summary that will have you on the edge of your seating waiting for this book, which releases on June 28th, 2016! (At least it's only SIX months away...it could be out next fall!!!)

Author: Kiersten White
Release Date: June 28, 2016
Publisher: Delacorte Press // Random House
SUMMARY:

NO ONE EXPECTS A PRINCESS TO BE BRUTAL. And Lada Dragwlya likes it that way. Ever since she and her gentle younger brother, Radu, were wrenched from their homeland of Wallachia and abandoned by their father to be raised in the Ottoman courts, Lada has known that being ruthless is the key to survival. She and Radu are doomed to act as pawns in a vicious game, an unseen sword hovering over their every move. For the lineage that makes them special also makes them targets.

Lada despises the Ottomans and bides her time, planning her vengeance for the day when she can return to Wallachia and claim her birthright. Radu longs only for a place where he feels safe. And when they meet Mehmed, the defiant and lonely son of the sultan, who’s expected to rule a nation, Radu feels that he’s made a true friend—and Lada wonders if she’s finally found someone worthy of her passion.

But Mehmed is heir to the very empire that Lada has sworn to fight against—and that Radu now considers home. Together, Lada, Radu, and Mehmed form a toxic triangle that strains the bonds of love and loyalty to the breaking point.
