This week's topic:
Top Ten 2015 Spring TBR Titles
This weekend marks the first official day of spring. I love spring. LOVE spring. It's my favorite season. Today felt so gorgeous, too. Last week, Kat and I got away with wearing hoodies and no coats in NYC, too. YAY FOR SPRING!!!
Today's Top 10 post is like a fresh breath of air. I always love these seasonal lists and seeing what everyone plans to read.
This spring, I want to read some older titles as well as some newer ones. I'm also planning to do more writing and less reading after Fairy Tale Fortnight concludes next month until after BEA, so it may be a lighter reading load for me this spring.
So what are ten of the books I'm most anticipating reading in the next quarter? (I'm trying to exclude fairy tales, since you'll be inundated with many of them next month during Fairy Tale Fortnight!)
In no particular order...
2) THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN by Paula Hawkins
I've had a review copy of this one since a couple of weeks before the book came out and became the most buzzed-about debut so far this year. All my co-workers want to read it, too, so we'll all be reading this one about the same time!
3) JESSE'S GIRL by Miranda Kenneally
I've read all of Miranda Kenneally's books so far, and don't plan to miss this one, especially since it has a rock star element! Plus, I'll be on tour with this book in the spring, so it's on the Must list!
4) AN EMBER IN THE ASHES by Sabaa Tahir
I've heard this is amazing, and one of 2015's best offerings. I started to read it a few months ago, but I couldn't handle anything brutal and devastating after the book I'd just finished, so I put it down. But I'd still like to get to it soon, especially since it comes out next month!
5) THE WITCH'S BOY by Kelly Barnhill
6) THE INVASION OF THE TEARLING by Erika Johansen
I did a lot of begging for this ARC. And I'd kind of like to share it with as many co-workers as possible before the book drops in June! I enjoyed QUEEN OF THE TEARLING and am looking forward to seeing the world evolve and deepen!
7) SABRIEL (and its sequels) by Garth Nix
These books have made my TBR Wishlist multiple times, and stare sadly at me from my nightstand every day, whispering, "Is it finally my turn?" I was so excited to meet Garth Nix at BEA last year and get these signed, and I am squandering them. It's a true shame!
8) THE TRUTH ABOUT US by Janet Gurtler
I get to be on tour with Janet Gurtler and Sourcebooks Fire again this spring! I love promoting Janet's titles, and am always interested in reading her latest book, even though I'm not a huge YA contemporary reader. Janet is one of those readers that I'm drawn to because of the way she makes you care about her characters.
9) THE FILL-IN BOYFRIEND by Kasie West
Kasie West is another of those YA contemporary writers that is now on my Read Right Now list. I've really enjoyed her previous two contemporary novels and am eager to get my hands on her third offering in May!
10) MAGIC STUDY by Maria V. Snyder
I finally got to read POISON STUDY last spring after attempting to do so for several years when Maria Snyder was in town for a local signing. She's going to be back next month to sign her new book SHADOW STUDY, and I'd like to be a little further ahead in the series by the time I meet her again!
What books are you looking forward to reading this Spring? ^_^
Great list! I've added a few to my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteYou're reminding me that I really liked the "Study" series and should probably re-read those books! I'm also very intrigued by Jesse's Girl, since I love the song!

*Gasp!* I fell in love with Maria Snyder's characters. She doesn't only have great main characters, but she makes AWESOME side characters *cough* Ari and Janco *cough*. That's defiantly a series worth diving deeper into.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get The Fill-In Boyfriend! It's my guilty pleasure/ cheesy/ over-the-top ya romance book of the spring! Great list!

I have a few on my kindle and then A darker shade of magic sounds awesome I've seen so many good reviews for it already
ReplyDeleteI loved ADSOM! It's amazing, get on it quick-smart :)
ReplyDeleteI was a big fan of Poison Study too, but I didn't love Magic Study or Fire Study quite as much. It's been so long that I can't remember what happened in them though, so I'm apprehensive about reading Shadow Study!
I've met Maria before though and she was super nice, so you're lucky to get to see her again!!
My TTT

Magic Study is a great book! You should read it right away! Great list :)
ReplyDeleteCheck out mine!
Love your list! Magic Study is a great book - love Maria V Snyder! I can't wait to read A Darker Shade of Magic and A Girl on a Train is also on my wishlist - heard amazing things about both books! I'm currently reading Sabriel and I'm not too far in yet but it's really intriguing. Great list, hope you get to them all and enjoy them :)

My TTT!
A Darker Shade of Magic, The Fill-In Boyfriend, and An Ember in the Ashes are high on my priority list too. I'm still waiting to get A Darker Shade of Magic from the library though. I'm only hold 2 of 4 now though so yay. I'm excited to see what Megan Shepherd's The Cage is like. Although, my spring TBR pretty much consists of books I meant to read last year.
ReplyDeleteSabriel has been on TBR list for such a long time. The Fill-In Boyfriend is on my TBR too. I've never read anything by Kasie West.
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten Tuesday
I cannot wait to read The Fill-in Boyfriend. I've bought my copy of A Darker Shade of Magic, but haven't read it yet. I've been waiting until I can give it my full attention. I have The Girl on the Train on hold at the library. Great list! I hope you love them all!
