My love of everything celebrity, of course! I was inspired by two things in particular: how celebrities handle the highs (and lows) of sudden fame, and how real life celebrities are often perceived to be “characters” just like the roles they play on screen. Who are they, really? As much as we think we know, there’s so much about their lives that will forever remain a mystery to us, even though there are people following them 24/7. Paige’s journey from ‘normal girl’ to ‘mega famous’ is my version of the inside look into celebrities’ heads that we all wish we had. Because at the end of the day, they are just like us (but with better clothes.)
Everyone who's read this is dying for more. Can you whisper any secrets about what's to come in the sequel?
I really can’t say much without spoiling it! But here’s a hint: if FAMOUS IN LOVE is about Paige’s journey to becoming famous, the sequel is about figuring out what happens once she’s made it.
Did you ever want to be a “star” growing up? What was your dream?
Being famous was never an ambition of mine (confession: I can be a little shy, especially in big crowds!) but I’ve always been fascinated from afar. The truth is, I’m already living my dream: to be a writer, writing books that teenage-me would have loved to read. ^_^
Who is your celebrity crush?
I’ve been watching a lot of (too many? Nah, never enough) #Spoby videos lately, so Keegan Allen from Pretty Little Liars.
Do you have a favorite movie or book about a star encounter?
Notting Hill! Julia Roberts plays a glamorous movie star who bumps into a bookseller (played by Hugh Grant) and they fall in love. So good, especially the monologue at the end. You know the one I’m talking about.
If there was a soundtrack to your life, what would be on the playlist?
Lots of really embarrassing early 90’s R&B. And the kind of music they play in Yoga studios.
Do you have a personal theme song?
“Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” by Starship.
Did you listen to anything in particular while writing FAMOUS IN LOVE?
