I'm so excited for today's feature because I get to share a very special COVER REVEAL that debuted this past Tuesday. I AM IN LOVE!!!
~*~
You all know I love fairy tales.
...and I think most of you do, too, or else you wouldn't still be following me! ^.~
I'm also a huge fan of Merrie Haskell, whose debut novel THE PRINCESS CURSE knocked me off my feet--in a good way! It wasn't what I was expecting at all, and I love recommending it!
Her new book has been announced, and the summary will be revealed soon when the HarperCollins Spring 2014 Catalog goes live. Are you excited? I AM EXCITED!
I want to know more, and this beauty is why:
...And don't you wonder if the tale of Sleeping Beauty is involved this time around?
I want to know more about this dilapidated castle, and I love the lighting and the way his back is to us! *Want, want, want!*
Based on Merrie Haskell's Cover Reveal Post on her blog, this is what we do know:
"Sand up there has his blacksmithing hammer"
"Sand in the Sundered Castle"
"My books are stand-alones set in the same universe, and in my mind they share the same mythology, politics, and magic–and of course, the same Underworld–and I feel like these wonderful covers unify them as well in the same way."
So we know the main character's name is Sand, he's likely a blacksmith, and he's definitely in a castle right now (which you can see on the cover, too!)
And....the Underworld is mentioned! I'm hoping that, if Reveka never gets the sequel I'm dreaming of, she at least makes an appearance and continues her journey!!
And did you see that fancy blurb?
I love Rae Carson, and I love that SHE loves an author that *I* love. It shows that we all have good taste. And, obviously, that this book will be fantastic!
(And if you DON'T know how much I love Rae Carson and somehow missed the love train, check out my reviews of THE GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS, THE SHADOW CATS, THE CROWN OF EMBERS, THE SHATTERED MOUNTAIN, and THE BITTER KINGDOM.)
The cover illustration was created by Kevin Keele, who also did the design work for this year's novel from HASKELL, HANDBOOK FOR DRAGON SLAYERS. (Which I STILL have to read. I am still so behind this year. Noooo!)
While I was super-excited when Jason Chan did the cover art for THE PRINCESS CURSE and disappointed he didn't continue working with Merrie Haskell's covers, since I love him and I love her...I really can't complain. Kevin Keele is pretty amazing himself! I love these covers!!!
Can we see the covers all together?
Ahh, that's what I'm talking about! ♥
What are your thoughts about the cover?
Are you excited to read this one?
