What inspired you to write CONFESSIONS OF A HATER?

I feel like there are always struggles with hierarchy in school, and in life, and it was time for an updated version of that. I wanted to tell a story where the outcasts were the heroes. I wanted to make "smart" and "creative" and "clever" and "different" what was cool. Normal is boring. Judging people who are different than you is detrimental. I wanted to create a world where all kinds of people can rise up and the lines of what "popular" is would get blurred.

What clique did you fit into when you were in high school?

NONE of them! I was friends with people from all different cliques but I didn't have one that I was truly a part of and that always made me feel like an outsider. I could get along with all different types of people but there wasn't a group where I really felt like I belonged or was included in everything.

Did you ever pull off a great prank in high school?

Besides graduating??? ;)

What was your favorite scene to write in CONFESSIONS OF A HATER? The hardest?

The pranks were a lot of fun to write. Because just when you thought one group had pulled one over on the other, the underdogs would rise up and completely turn things around. I don't know what the hardest scene to write would be.

How does writing for teens differ from writing for adults? Will you write more YA novels in the future?

It's really only different in the experiences and locations (ie: high school) but I certainly didn't dumb it down or change my writing style. High school kids are much smarter than people give them credit for.

What are you working on now?

Right now I'm writing a TV pilot and anxiously awaiting this book release!!

Caprice, thank you so much for taking the time to stop by while on tour! Congratulations on next week's book launch! I'm excited to see the way this greatly-designed book looks in finished form!  ♥
