Welcome back to another edition of Mad About Nails!
This week, in addition to showing off my weekly manicure, I'm also going to review the premiere issue of Nail It! Magazine.
And look, even the world of nail polish loves books!
First up...this week's manicure!
This week, in addition to showing off my weekly manicure, I'm also going to review the premiere issue of Nail It! Magazine.
And look, even the world of nail polish loves books!

If you don't know how much I love mermaids by now, you've been living in an ocean far, far away.
As soon as I heard that Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure line had introduced a new color entitled "Mermaid's Tail," I was intrigued. When I saw swatches online, I was more than that--I became obsessed. I absolutely, positively had to have this polish.
What I love:
It's gorgeous, and on the nail, the way the blue and green glitters stack together and gleam in the light seriously look like the scales of a mermaid's tail, so it's aptly named. This polish is also a dupe for the much more expensive Deborah Lippman polish "Across the Universe" at a more affordable price. The more coats you put on, the darker and deeper this polish gets. At first, it's much more sheer, so it could be used over a base of a different color! The glitter spreads nicely, too, and provides full nail coverage. This isn't one of those glitter polishes you have to manipulate into submission!!
What I wish could be better:
The brush itself leaves a lot to be desired. It's not my favorite brush in the world, and wasn't the easiest to maneuver. It reminds me a bit of the brushes from the Spoiled by Wet n Wild line, which I also wasn't a fan of. You do need a few coats of polish to get the right depth to this polish because it starts off very sheer, but if you start off with a base coat that's a deep blue, you don't need to use as much polish...which leaves more for future manicures!

Next up...my review of the premiere issue of Nail It! Magazine:
Most of the video focuses on why I'm enjoying Nail It! so far!
Is anyone else obsessed with nail polish? What are you wearing right now?
I love nail polish- though I don't use it nearly often enough. This mermaid one looks so cool and I bet it looks even better in person. I've got a dark blue polish with black crackled over the top, which I love, but now you've got me wanting to change to something new...
ReplyDeleteI want this polish so badly!!!!! I just came across it when I was looking at the other colors in the collection.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you haven't tried the Oz collection yet, I highly recommend What Wizardry is This? and Which Witch is Which?
@LiterallyJen
I came *this close* to picking this color up yesterday, and now I wish I had. I'm just getting into nail polish, and I thought the big pieces of glitter might be a little too difficult, but it looks so beautiful on your nails! I think I'll stop by on my way home and grab some.
ReplyDelete(I'm obsessed with Mermaids too! Writing a mermaid book now. Nice to meet you!)
