RED SILK CLUNG TO MY HIPS, TWISTING INTO A TIGHT bodice that accentuated my curves.  My hair was down, silky around my shoulders like the petals of an exotic flower.  The lights in the ballroom caught each ripple in the fabric so that with every step, I looked like I was blooming from fire.

He stopped, lips parting as if the mere sight of me had rendered him incapable of doing anything else.  A warm blush stole over my skin.  This wouldn't end well--not when we were surrounded by people and he was lookinga t me like that, but I couldn't make myself leave.  I belonged here, with  him.  That had been the right choice.
The choice I...hadn't made.

Visit my review of HALF-BLOOD if you have yet to read this amazing series, or my review of PURE if you're not yet ready for DEITY.  I've also reviewed her stand-alone novel, CURSED, and done a guest post with both Armentrout and cover designer Kate Kaynak on the Covenant series design!

Did you see yesterday's guest post with Jennifer Armentrout where she talked about her favorite Halloween Memories?  Check it out!

If you haven't read HALF-BLOOD and PURE, turn back and stop reading this review right now!  Check out one of the above-linked reviews instead!

Jennifer L. Armentrout's writing gets better with every offering.  DEITY, the middle book in her Covenant Series, is no exception.  In fact, it's her best novel yet.  Armentrout is able to write books that are addicting, captivating, and impossible to put down.  Her mythology continues to be ingrained with unique, one-of-a-kind elements that blend lore and originality together in fresh new ways.

DEITY is the perfect mix of fantasy and romance, giving fans what they've wanted for so long while still leaving room for new surprises.  Fans looking for resolution in the Alex/Aiden/Seth love triangle are in for Alex making a decision--or at least, thinking she does.  I personally was excited because this decision went the way I wanted it too, and OMG, the results of this!!!  No words, guys.  Spoiler-free here.  But ZOMG!

With everything seeming to start tying up, it was time to introduce elements readers knew were coming, and do so in spectacular fashion.  Be forewarned: you're in for another deadly cliffhanger with DEITY, t his one perhaps Armentrout's "worst" yet.  After reading that, I'm pretty sure I need to read the penultimate book, APOLLYON, like, yesterday.  The wait on this one will be killer, bookworms!

If you missed it before, check out my cover design interview with Armentrout and designer Kate Kaynak for concept art and info on how they came to the final design you're seeing now!

I still like the feel of these covers, the way they're so cohesive.  I like the way we see a little more with each new book!  This time, the model's shoulder bares a glowing mark of the Apollyon, which is a big thing in DEITY!

The red is striking, too.  I was reading this at work and co-workers immediately wanted to know what I had in my hot little hands!

SUMMARY:

"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time."

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...
