DEITY is the third of five books in Jennifer L. Armentrout's mythological Covenant series. Jennifer is also publishing her Lux series about aliens, has recently published her first-stand alone novel, CURSE, and writes romantic novels under the pen name J. Lynn.

I adore Jennifer L. Armentrout and will read anything she writes!

Visit my review of HALF-BLOOD if you have yet to read this amazing series, or my review of PURE if you're not yet ready for DEITY.  I've also reviewed her stand-alone novel, CURSED, and done a guest post with both Armentrout and cover designer Kate Kaynak on the Covenant series design!

Check out Jennifer's blog and find her on Facebook and Twitter.

Halloween Memories
by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Growing up I was a huge fan of Halloween. Still am. And not just for the candy. I loved getting dressed up and trick and treating. Some of my favorite houses were the ones that had people hiding in the bushes. It’s the only day of the year where you can purposely scare the crap out of kids and get away with it.

Some of my favorite Halloween costumes were:

The standard mummy costume, but we didn’t use toilet paper. My mom had rigged up the costumes with ace bandages. Stayed on a lot better. Another year I was a witch and then a vampire. But my favorite costume was when me and my brother dressed up as punk rockers. We had tie-dyed hair and KISS make up. It was really cool.

But the best costume came when I was older—too old to trick or treat. I would give out candy, but just answering the door was boring for a teenager, so we had to come up with something. About a week before Halloween, we would put a stuffed dummy out on the front porch swing. The dummy would have on an old pair of men’s pants and flannel shirt. We’d use a basketball for the head, put a mask over it and then a hat. The neighborhood kids would get used to seeing the dummy as they went to their bus stops or to the corner market. Then, about a half an hour before trick or treating started, I would switch places with the dummy. Put the clothes on, the mask, and sit in the exact same position. My mom would put the bowl of candy in my lap and when kids started to come in, she would tell them that they had to get the candy themselves. Of course, I waited until their hand was in the bowl before I moved or grab their hand. I think I had more fun doing that than trick or treating.

"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time."

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

And now, a chance to win great prizes!
