Welcome to my brand-new feature! I've had quite a few people comment on my nails in the past month and ask what I was using or wish I'd done a close-up so they could see better, etc., etc. So recently when I was in NYC and some book bloggers were commenting on my nails, I had a realization: Why not do a feature on nail polish? It's not book-related (Unless you're wearing the new HUNGER GAMES-inspired line from China Glaze, but I'm not even going into how wrong that is...), but it's fun. Plus, if I do this feature, I'll be more likely to re-paint my nails this week and less likely to let them chip their way to the bare bones (which would mean that I could see my nails...and if I see them, I want to bite them!). What do you think? I think I'm officially toeing the "too crazy" line now...
I never expect much from cheaper nail polishes, but Spoiled has been a pleasant surprise. So far, the nail polish is lasting a long time (perhaps because I pair it with OPI Top Coat, which is a higher quality top coat) without chipping, so this nail polish is great bang for your buck (I forget if it was $1.99 or $2.99 a bottle, but it was also during a BOGO sale when I picked these up, so great deal!), and there are several unusual colors in the line!
The brushes on this line are spotty. Some are horrendous, while others are decent. "Are Mermaids Real?" started to get a little hard (I guess before we put the air conditioning in?), so I do need to buy some Nail Thinner to stick into the bottle. At the same time, because of this, the brush stiffened enough that the polish went on fairly smoothly with little mess. The bristles weren't everywhere like they are on other Spoiled bottles! I can't complain too much!
Is anyone else obsessed with nail polish? What are you wearing right now?
I don't wear much nail polish, mostly because what I've tried always starts to chip within a day. I hate it when that happens, but I only want to put one layer on.
ReplyDeleteYours look super cute!
Even if you use cheaper-brand nail polishes (I do, too. Nothing wrong with that! This stuff in the video is only $1.99!), I would invest in a good top coat. I use the OPI line, which is probably $7 or $8 a bottle. They also make it in RapiDry, which is a little more, but dries faster. You can buy it at ULTA and other beauty stores, as well as nail salons such as Trade Secret. If you spend the money on a good top coat, the polish will last longer, even with one layer on.
