One thing I love about middle-grade novels? The illustrations! I wish more teen and adult books were as tenderly illustrated as the ones for younger audiences.
Case in point:
THE SINISTER SWEETNESS OF SPLENDID ACADEMY

I adore the way the title is blending into the trees like a part of the image.
I want to know more about the clock on top of the school, too! That building alone screams atmosphere!
I also like the way the girl's arms are crossed, with her hair billowing. Her gaze is thoughtful; you can tell that she's going to try to solve a mystery.
This looks like it's going to be a fun book, don't you think?
What do you think of my choice this week?
Yes! I love the cover especially the expression of the girl is so catchy. Awesome choice, really unique =)

YES! illustrated covers are sooooo nifty! i wish it would get in style on YA as well!
ReplyDeleteI love this cover. I featured it on my CC a couple weeks back. I hope the story is a great as the cover. I have it marked on my TBR. I particularly am curious about the two figure in the entry way to the house. They are silhouetted against the back light. Their edges are a bit faded, I'm wondering if they are meant to be ghosts?
ReplyDeletePS I linked up my CC this week here: http://www.pageturnersblog.com/2012/04/cover-crazy-whats-left-of-me.html#axzz1qu3KOxt9 you should too!

@Gina: Again, we're alike! <3 Maybe it's from you I first saw it, then! I was looking at my GoodReads TBR to see what I liked, lol! I wondered if they were ghosts, too!!
