Welcome to A Week of Cinderella! Grab some promotional buttons for your blog HERE and stop back all week long for fun guest posts, exciting author visits (because, after all, Marissa isn't the ONLY author with a kick-ass Cinderella to celebrate!), giveaways, reviews, and a blog tour stop for CINDER!
Cover Crazy is hosted by The Book Worms. Each week, bloggers "admire the art and beauty of a book’s design, so I’m going to post minimal words. It is up to you to write how you feel and what you like about it the way you’d like to."
To celebrate a week of Cinderella, here are some fun Cinderella-themed covers!
This cover is absolutely gorgeous. Simply stunning!!
From the perfection of monochrome to the dash of beautiful purple, the colors are all just right.
I love the way Ash is curled up in a fetal position; she looks so vulnerable here.
This cover gets me every time and I'm so proud to own a copy to call my own. I was also really excited to meet Malinda Lo on the Diversity Tour last year!
The UK cover is also really pretty (featured, left), though it's a bit more...whimsical. The colors are softer, and it's illustrated, which adds a different feel to the entire book!
The image on the UK cover is also a bit creepier, though it still has a level of vulnerability. I like the way the trees and the girl are elongated, giving off a Tim Burton-esque vibe. The font is also a bit disturbing. This feels like a book I wouldn't want to read in the dark...and this is one forest I wouldn't want to go creeping into, especially without a shoe!
JUST ELLA by Margaret Peterson Haddix:
This is only one of two books I own by Margaret Peterson Haddix (the second one being a companion to this book, PALACE OF MIRRORS), and I was lucky enough to get both signed!
The thing that first intrigued me about this book was the cover. I love the way it looks as though someone tore through the cover. It's brilliant. It shows Ella in all of her elegance and also the cinder girl lurking beneath the surface. It represents the duality that Ella struggles with throughout the novel.
I really think this cover is a lot of fun!

Not an exact reboot of the tale, but the cover is super-cute!
It's chick-lit, but it looks like fun!
I like the way his shoe is solid black and practical for work while hers are playful canvas sneakers in a cheerful shade of blue...and decked out with a bouquet of daisies to boot!
I also like the way the title uses the same blue from the slippers, though the title is completely eclipsed by the author's name. I didn't even realize it was the title at first!
Not a novel, but doesn't this picture book look adorable?
The synopsis is really cute, too. I want to get my hands on this innovative retelling of Cinderella!
I really like the illustrations, too, and if the cover draws my eye like that, how awesome will every other page look?
...It also looks like something that Tim Burton might animate!

What do you think? What cover are you crazy about this week?
Ash, the UK cover is my favorite! I just love that one. Plus, its new to me the book is about Cinderella? I don't really like the middle two, but the last cover, is adorable. I also am a big fan of illustrative covers.
ReplyDeleteI like that cover a lot! It's beautiful. But I also really like how ASH and HUNTRESS go together when they're side by side!
DeleteI love Just Ella! I recently had a kid do a book report on it, and it reminded me of how much I enjoyed it when I was a teen. I should totally reread it!

I need to re-read it as well. I don't remember it too well!!
DeleteYikes! That last cover is creepy! I love the UK cover of Ash. The style reminds me of Jason Chan. I also really like how the cover looks like it's torn in Just Ella. That reminds me, I've been meaning to read that one....
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? I can so see Tim Burton using it!! It reminds me of Jason Chan, too! I love him <3
