Bookworms, you all know how obsessed I’ve become with Rachel Hawkins’ HEX HALL trilogy, right? (You mean my reviews of HEX HALL and DEMONGLASS earlier this year didn’t give it away?) The title of the book we’ve been fondly referring to as TRIPLE HEXXX officially revealed last month as SPELL BOUND—and now we have an official cover!
Not only that, here’s the summary that’s been posted on Amazon:
Hailed as “impossible to put down,” the Hex Hall series has both critics and teens cheering. With a winning combination of romance, action, magic and humor, this third volume will leave readers enchanted.
Just as Sophie Mercer has come to accept her extraordinary magical powers as a demon, the Prodigium Council strips them away. Now Sophie is defenseless, alone, and at the mercy of her sworn enemies—the Brannicks, a family of warrior women who hunt down the Prodigium. Or at least that’s what Sophie thinks, until she makes a surprising discovery. The Brannicks know an epic war is coming, and they believe Sophie is the only one powerful enough to stop the world from ending. But without her magic, Sophie isn’t as confident.
Sophie’s bound for one hell of a ride—can she get her powers back before it’s too late?

What do you think? The cover for SPELL BOUND is my favorite yet. Sophie’s holding a SWORD and looks so fierce. I need to know more right this second. And I love that the reflected image is her in her Hecate Hall uniform. It perfectly mirrors HEX HALL, where she wore a uniform and looked down at herself in the green dress. Plus, this school uniform Sophie looks much more secure with herself, not at all nervous and timid the way she does on the first cover. Sophie, you’ve come a long, long way! I can’t wait to see how your journey concludes. I have a feeling that I’m going to cry buckets. I’m not ready for this trilogy to be over yet.
Luckily, Rachel Hawkins mentioned on her blog today that we’re not yet done reading about Hex Hall…it’s just Sophie’s journey that’s coming to a close. Plus, we get two books by Rachel next year. Not only will SPELL BOUND be in our greedy little paws, but the first REBEL BELLE novel will debut. I’m already beyond excited for it. The Goodreads summary teases at what's to come and I’ve loved seeing Rachel talk about it on her blog.
And hey, one GOOD thing to come out of a completed trilogy? You know we’re finally going to get the Sophie/Archer action we’ve been craving. Or at least, we can hope!
[And seriously, I hope there’s a cat in this book. Because otherwise, what is UP with the cat on all three covers!?]

Haha, so happy you mentioned the cat. That totally bugs me but I think it's funny the designers kept on sticking it on the cover (really, why did they put it on the very first one?) I kind of doubt the cat will make it into book 3, but it would be awesome if it did.
ReplyDeleteOther than that, though, I like how they've stuck with the same cover design but changed it up each time. It's neat that on this cover it's the schoolgirl uniform Sophie in the reflection - you're right, definitely harkens back to book 1. And why is it purple? O_O
Anyway yes, so looking forward to the last installment in the series and some Sophie/Archer action! :D
Danya:
ReplyDeleteI know, right? That cat has always bugged me. Haha, let's send a Tweet to Rachel Hawkins about the cat and see if she'll respond :)
At least the covers are cohesive, though! I love that they've stayed so pretty throughout.
I know, this cover REALLY reminds me of book one, but in reverse! It's the PERFECT cover. Great bookends!
Oh, yesssssssss, Sophie/Archer for the win!
What a beautiful cover. I can't wait for this one to come out. Do you know an expected release date?
ReplyDeleteI think the cat goes along with the witch theme. It made sense for the first novel, but I'm really confused on how it fits in with the rest.
I guess if you look at the cat's position, he's finally facing the audience, in this one, where before he was facing away (first novel) and facing sideways (second book.)
My favorite cover out of all of them has to be Demonglass! But this one is gorgeous and I can't wait for the next one.
ReplyDeleteI also can't wait to hear more about Cal :) *I think i smelt that right*
I like how all the covers keep the same theme. But what is up with that cat?! I hope he makes an appearance in the final book.
ReplyDeleteGotta say, I'm hoping for some Sophie/CAL action ;) You can keep Archer.
