Cover Crazy is hosted by The Book Worms. Each week, bloggers "admire the art and beauty of a book’s design, so I’m going to post minimal words. It is up to you to write how you feel and what you like about it the way you’d like to."
Why I Love This Cover:
While these covers don’t make a ton of sense on their own, together they make a striking image. I haven’t actually read Robin Wasserman’s SKINNED trilogy yet. I’ve picked it up at the bookstore several times and put it down again. I’ve checked the books out from the library a couple of times and, sadly, had to return them unread.
With the big explosion in dystopian fiction these days, the trilogy has been repackaged AND retitled. It’s now the COLD AWAKENING trilogy, and the books SKINNED, CRASHED, and WIRED will be called FROZEN, SHATTERED, and TORN come October.
The original covers always reminded me a lot of the design for Scott Westerfeld’s UGLIES quartet which, ironically, also received a massive series re-design (albeit with the original book titles intact).
I have no clue whether these covers and titles work better with the contents of the series or not. But how gorgeous is this design? I so think I might wait until the fall to read this version because it’s so shiny! ^^;;
What do you think about all the cover repackaging on older series going on right now?
What cover are you crazy about this week?
I haven't read this trilogy yet either, but I have to admit - that cover design is pretty much sheer genius. Awesome idea for a trilogy.
ReplyDeleteWow... those covers are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll have to go look into these books. :P Hadn't heard of them until now actually, to be honest, but now I want to know more. :) Probably going to be put on my (never ending) to-read pile soon. :P
Great pick!

This is a great idea. I also love mythology in all its forms. Will you only be focusing on Greek or Egyptian, Mayan, Norse, Roman etc. as well?
ReplyDeleteNew follower.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
I think I saw these covers last week in CC. But to me, when you put them together, they are amazing!
ReplyDeleteO.O That's COOL.
ReplyDeleteThe books are actually quite good, though the first is by far the best of the three. The original over work, however, left a lot to be desired. The first was okay, but the second and third were really just... well, blah.
ReplyDeleteThis new design is a big improvment.
I've read these books and they are AMAZING! seriously....read them...
