Teaser Tuesdays (4)

Another day, another dollar. I'm only on page 30 of my latest find so far, but I'm already intrigued!

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

To participate:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!) Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

"When I was thirteen, I ran away from home because of a curse. Mom caught up with me miles out in the country, standing in front of an abandoned grain silo. The sky was full of what looked like baby tornadoes. I had just been examined pretty thoroughly by a three-legged dog. I was sweaty, thirsty, filthy with road dust, and my heart was completely fractured."

(~pg. 1 [Opening Paragraph])

This isn't a book I ever thought I would read. As I've said before, paranormal novels aren't my first choice, especially when they're vampire-related. I'm so sick of vampires right now. Sure, I loved Buffy growing up (Who didn't?), but the market is so oversaturated right now. It's probably one reason I'm so into this Dystopian wave at the moment. This book sounds REALLY interesting, though. Judging from the back cover, vampires are actually scary again. I know, right? A scary vampire? The MC is a girl with epilepsy who has a grand mal seizure while a vampire is attacking her. She winds up gaining vampire powers without actually becoming a vampire. Plus, the cover is GORGEOUS. The model looks so vulnerable, doesn't she? I can't wait to post an in-depth look at the cover somewhere down the road. I picked up the book, read the first page, and saw the opening paragraph I just shared with you. Isn't it gorgeous? So much vividness already! Plus, I really love the line, "...my heart was completely fractured."

Guess I'm reading a vampire novel!
