WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI Movie News -- and enter to win Sandhya Menon's BRAND-NEW release 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT PINKY!
Okay, so this wasn't actually going to be my post today. Ironically, I had scheduled a review of Sandhya Menon's debut novel WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI to go live today. I never reviewed the book myself because my at-the-time co-blogger Mandy reviewed it, so I was going to treat you to my own take on this awesome book that I've read three times since it came out.
But, as Rishi always says, KISMET!
Yesterday, Sandhya Menon revealed HUGE movie news.
WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI was turned into a movie by Netflix India and will be airing globally this fall with the new title Mismatched, which means I can even watch it State-Side! I'm so excited for this news and can't wait to see a trailer.
The movie stars renowned YouTube star Prajakta Koli as Dimple and popular Bollywood actor Rohit Saraf as Rishi! This will be Koli's Bollywood debut.
For now, how about an image of the leading actors as our beloved characters:
Are you excited? I'm SO excited. I hope the movie does really well and Netflix India adapts more of the Dimple-Verse -- and also Menon's also novels!
I already know what I can't wait to watch this fall!
If you are able to, please purchases a copy from indie-owned Wellesley Books, who will be hosting Sandhya Menon's virtual launch party for PINKY!
You can order online through Bookshop and Libro.fm -- the store will receive a portion of the proceeds and it will help so much!
Interested in attending the PINKY Launch Party?
Sandhya Menon will be in conversation with Becky Albertalli (SIMON VS. THE HOMO SAPIENS AGENDA, WHAT IF IT'S US, YES NO MAYBE SO)
Tuesday, July 21st at 7 pm EST.

Title: WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI
Dimple Shah has it all figured out. With graduation behind her, she’s more than ready for a break from her family, from Mamma’s inexplicable obsession with her finding the “Ideal Indian Husband.” Ugh. Dimple knows they must respect her principles on some level, though. If they truly believed she needed a husband right now, they wouldn’t have paid for her to attend a summer program for aspiring web developers…right?
Rishi Patel is a hopeless romantic. So when his parents tell him that his future wife will be attending the same summer program as him—wherein he’ll have to woo her—he’s totally on board. Because as silly as it sounds to most people in his life, Rishi wants to be arranged, believes in the power of tradition, stability, and being a part of something much bigger than himself.
The Shahs and Patels didn’t mean to start turning the wheels on this “suggested arrangement” so early in their children’s lives, but when they noticed them both gravitate toward the same summer program, they figured, Why not?
Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But when opposites clash, love works hard to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.

Title: 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT PINKY
The follow-up to WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI and THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT SWEETIE follows Pinky and Samir as they pretend to date—with disastrous and hilarious results.
Pinky Kumar wears the social justice warrior badge with pride. From raccoon hospitals to persecuted rock stars, no cause is too esoteric for her to champion. But a teeny-tiny part of her also really enjoys making her conservative, buttoned-up corporate lawyer parents cringe.
Samir Jha might have a few . . . quirks remaining from the time he had to take care of his sick mother, like the endless lists he makes in his planner and the way he schedules every minute of every day, but those are good things. They make life predictable and steady.
Pinky loves lazy summers at her parents’ Cape Cod lake house, but after listening to them harangue her about the poor decisions (aka boyfriends) she’s made, she hatches a plan. Get her sorta-friend-sorta-enemy, Samir—who is a total Harvard-bound Mama’s boy—to pose as her perfect boyfriend for the summer. As they bicker their way through lighthouses and butterfly habitats, sparks fly, and they both realize this will be a summer they'll never forget.
