MYTHOLOGICAL MONDAYS: COVER ART REVEALED: THE SON OF NEPTUNE by Rick Riordan

Mythological Mondays is a feature I created to spotlight books brimming with--you guessed it--mythology! I adore this sub-genre and can't wait to share my love with all of my fellow bookworms! This feature isn't just focused on novel reviews; it may also include interviews, looks at original mythological tales, etc. Please feel free to do this with me! If you guys ever do a mythological feature and want to join this and snag my lovely mermaid, I would LOVE to see the feature. I’ve even included a Linkbox for you. It doesn’t have to be Greek mythology, or even mythology per say. It can be mermaids, unicorns, or heck, even fairy tales (because I’m too lazy to do a separate fairy tale feature…). It doesn’t even have to be every Monday. I’m sure there will be Mondays when I skip, too. ^_^

Today’s Mythological Monday edition features a Cover Reveal of THE SON OF NEPTUNE by Rick Riordan. OMG, isn’t it gorgeous? It was revealed at the end of BEA, and I held off posting it for you all to see until today. (I know, how could I wait that long? Let me tell you, bookworms, it was HARD!)

Who isn’t waiting for the next installment of THE HEROES OF OLYMPUS? This series is seriously filling the hole left behind in my heart when PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS concluded. It’s all that and then some! The first book in the new series, THE LOST HERO, is my favorite book by Riordan. I can’t *WAIT* for SON (haha, S.O.N. are the initials AND The first word in the title…) to come out on October 4th!

How fierce is this cover, by the way? It reminds me of something out of the animated series AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, especially with all that snow in the background. But isn’t Percy supposed to be in California…? Where is this, Alaska maybe? I want to know how he gets there and why! And what’s the golden bird he’s holding? (I’m ASSUMING this is Percy…especially with a title like THE SON OF NEPTUNE! Our boy MUST be featured in this book!)

I love the way his hair is falling into his face, hiding the dirt-encrusted cheeks. He’s on a quest, a quest, a quest! I want to know more about the quest, especially the golden bird staff he’s slamming into the ice. What is it? There’s no fun object title like THE RED PYRAMID or THE THRONE OF FIRE to let us know what that golden bird really is!
This cover looks GOOD and OMG, I want this book NOW because I am super impatient.

How about you? What do you think?

(And if you haven’t read the PERCY JACKSON books yet, I disown you. No, seriously. I do.)
