Top Five Middle Grade Novels featuring Superheroes!

I'm cheating, forgive me, but this week's TTT theme didn't fit with our superhero week so I'm deviating. And I only have five. But since most of the books Bonnie and I will be reviewing this week will be teen or adult, I thought I'd take a moment to highlight some great middle grade reads featuring masked crusaders and devious villains.

In no particular order...

1) WONDER WOMAN AT SUPERHERO HIGH by Lisa Yee

I've had the pleasure of reading a couple of books from this series and I am honestly in LOVE WITH IT. Girl power in a high school setting, with each Super Girl working through challenges that are abnormal AND normal all at once. I love that each book features one girl prominently but in the end there is always team work and girls supporting other girls.


  

2) STUDY HALL OF JUSTICE by Derek Fridolfs

I haven't read this series yet, but the premise is so freaking cute you guys. Imagine little mini Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman creating a junior detective agency in their school? This seems like such an adorable reimagining and it's mixed media!




3) PUBLIC SCHOOL SUPERHERO by James Patterson

This illustrated novel isn't your every day run of the mill superhero story. The main character's superhero alter ego is in his mind, a way to deal with the challenges of middle school and the stress of being forced to make every day choices that affect your safety. 


 


4) HOW TO BE A SUPERVILLAIN by Michael Fry

I'm a sucker for a story where destiny suggests a main character follow in the steps of the family business but they just don't seem able to fill the shoes of their predecessors. Add in that the family business is villainy and I'm pretty much sold and good to go. James Patterson presents this delightful tale by Michael Fry!

5) SIDEKICKED by John David Anderson

Sidekicks are important. Important enough to definitely deserve their own story. In Sidekicked by John David Anderson, we follow a main character whose life isn't capes and glamour, it's desperately keeping his two lives separate while navigating the power of super senses. As they do, lines start to blur, between his aliases, and his ideas of good and evil, which makes for a fantastic read!
