Ten Awesome Gay & Lesbian Fairy Tales
by Megan Derr
by Megan Derr
Hello, Everyone! ^__^ Many thanks to the wonderful people
behind Fairytale Fortnight for having
me, and much love to everyone stopping by to join in the fun.
My name is Megan Derr, I'm an author and publisher of LGBTQ
romance, and fairy tales have always been one of my favorite things. They are
what first inspired me to write, the source of some of my most popular stories,
and my press, Less Than Three Press, is very well known for publishing them.
Our Fairytales Slashed series is one
of our biggest sellers.
So I am here today to share a few fairy tales, some of my
favorites across the whole genre. Most everyone is probably familiar with Ash by Malinda Lo, which is an excellent
tale of a bisexual woman. The ones I'm listing today are from indie presses and
self-pubs. And I tried to pick a good mix of short and long. I hope you enjoy
^__^
Cinder by Marie Sexton – An
excellent spin on Cinderella, which remains my absolute favorite fairytale
Gretel by Niamh Murphy – My favorite
retelling of Hansel and Gretel
Scarlet and the White Wolf series by
Kirby Crow – An awesome fantasy series loosely based on Red Riding Hood.
Taliasman by Anastasia Vitsky – A
beautiful tale about a girl given to a heavenly queen by her poor parents
Bedtime for a Stolen Child series by
Anna Mayle – One of my favorite series, these have a darker, twisted vibe
A Woman Scorned by Rachel Frank – A
tale of a woman who doesn't believe in fairy tales and happy ends
Mr. Rumpel and Mr. Grimm by Echo
Ishii – An awesome spin on the man who spins straw into gold
High and Mighty by S.S. Skye – A
tale about why locking women in towers never goes well for anyone
Lord of the Forest by Kay Berrisford
– A story about Robin Hood in the aftermath of his glory days
Snow by Wheeler Scott – Still of
favorite spins on Snow White
