What made you decide to merge a futuristic, modern world with the old-time glory of a medieval kingdom?

Great question, Bonnie ^_^ I’m a huge history buff. Just love so many things from different times, and have always wanted to write Historicals…yet didn’t feel like I could do a book justice. I’m too much of a perfectionist, and would research myself into a hole, kind of like I did while writing ASTARTE’S WRATH, lol. So being able to bring one of my favorite times to the future, and have more wiggle room, I felt more comfortable.

2) Was it hard mixing modern technologies such as communicators and surveillance cameras with the medieval atmosphere of jousting, royal betrothals, etc.?

I don’t feel like it was hard, it was more like I was concerned it wouldn’t be believable. I know it’s fantasy, and you have to suspend your belief a bit, but I still wanted the world to be as believable as possible. I hope that’s what happened ^_^

Why did you settle on a King Arthurian setting?

I tried to find something that hasn’t been done to death, lol. Honestly. There are characters in YA that seem to get a lot more attention (fairytale retellings, etc.), and I wanted to try and bring something fresh to YA, and something that I truly loved.

Will there be other books or novellas set in the world of Karm? Or books with created "worlds" such as Camelot?

I hope so! ^_^ Every book I’ve written so far, except my first Contemp, has an invented world. I feel the most comfortable when creating new worlds, like I get to make all the rules, so I’ll always write alternate realities and dive deeper into world building.

What was your favorite scene to write in FIREBLOOD? The hardest?

Favorite: love scene.
With FB, that scene was so emotional, it was one of my favorites from all my books.
And the hardest: the ending.
I struggled with a certain scene near the end…and ultimately, after talking with my agent, decided it was the best course of action in order to “maybe” have a sequel book for the characters to continue on. I’m still not sure if it was the right choice for this one book, but I think it’s the best choice for the potential series.

You've had so much come out in the past year. What can we look forward to in 2014 and beyond?

It does feel like a lot of books have hit this year, lol. I didn’t write them all this year, obviously, but they seemed to all be ready to pub around the same time ^_^
Next year, I hope to release OF DARKNESS AND CROWNS; actually, I’m aiming for the end of this year, but it may need to be pushed back some in order for it to be the best it can. And then there will be a sequel in my New Adult Contemp series. That’s all that’s planned to release, but I’ll be working on a few other books _^

Thank you so much, Trisha!
I was intrigued by the elements that were hardest for you to put together, and definitely want to go back and
re-read the end of FIREBLOOD now! ^.~
I always love touring with you, and can't wait to work with you again!

Title:  FIREBLOOD
Author: Trisha Wolfe
Release Date: Dec. 17. 2013
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
SUMMARY:

To save a kingdom, Zara must choose between a prince who could be the answer and a rising rebellion that threatens to take control.

When Zara Dane is chosen to marry Prince Sebastian Hart, son of the man who ordered her father’s capture, Zara knows she must fight to save everything she loves from ruin.

Being betrothed to the prince means a life trapped behind the towering stone walls of the Camelot-forged realm. Under the watchful eye of the prince's first knight, Sir Devlan Capra, changing her future becomes difficult.

When an unlikely rebel reveals the truth about the deadly secrets that fuel King Hart’s twisted world, Zara’s path to rescue her father becomes clouded by deception. The Rebels clear her path by forcing Zara’s hand with an ultimatum: sway Prince Sebastian to join the Rebels, convincing him of his father’s evil nature, or they will take him out.

But Zara is uncertain about a future under the Rebels’ command and where the prince’s heart truly lies. She must decide who to trust, what to believe, and what she’s truly fighting for before the king destroys all of Karm, including her heart.
