In Case You Missed It: Last week, I reviewed ARROW OF THE MIST. I also interviewed author Christina Mercer!

An e-book edition of ARROW OF THE MIST is only $2.99. What a great deal!

Last week when I was reading ARROW OF THE MIST for a blog tour stop, I spotted an undine, or water spirit, and knew I had to feature the book during Splash!

Undines are pretty rare, and not everyone knows the term, so I'm especially excited to share this passage with you:

LIA RUBBED THE FOAM OVER HER SKIN and the scent of honey and elf leaf transported her home. She lathered her hair and then dunked back under the water. As she lifted up, she noticed green hair intermingled with her own red locks.

"Oh!" She pulled back at the sight of a water fae washing in the milky bubbles. The otter-sized undine slipped close, preening her tresses. She rubbed and stroked her green hair. Lia grinned. Hair was the one vanity she could related to; she cared nothing for the pop of frills or trinkets, but her long coppery hair had always been her glory.

The faery giggled and disappeared into the brook, and Lia dressed and walked back to camp.

I just thought it was a fun sighting and was caught by surprise when I came across this vain little sea nymph! It added an extra dimension to Lia's quest and the mythical creatures she encounters on her quest for the antidote to a poison killing her father and grandfather.

Terror strikes the Celtic inspired kingdom of Nemetona when barbed roots breach the veil of a forbidden land and poison woodsmen, including 15-year-old Lia’s beloved father. Lia and three others embark on a quest to the forbidden land of Brume to gather ingredients for the cure. But after her elder kinsman is attacked and poisoned, she and her cousin, Wynn, are forced to finish the quest on their own.

Lia relies on her powerful herbal wisdom and the memorized pages of her late grandmother’s Grimoire for guidance through a land of soul-hungry shades, trickster creatures, and uncovered truths about the origin of Brume and her family’s unexpected ties to it. The deeper they trek into the land, the stronger Lia’s untapped gift as a tree mage unfolds. When she discovers the enchanted root’s maker, it forces her to question everything about who she is and what is her destiny. Ultimately she must make a terrible choice: keep fighting to save her father and the people of the lands or join with the power behind the deadly roots to help nature start anew.
