Cover Crazy: THE CROWN OF EMBERS by Rae Carson

Cover Crazy is hosted by The Book Worms. Each week, bloggers "admire the art and beauty of a book’s design, so I’m going to post minimal words. It is up to you to write how you feel and what you like about it the way you’d like to."

I also just lusted over the cover for Karsten Knight's upcoming EMBERS AND ECHOES for Mythological Mondays.  If you love looking at covers, check out this post as well!

If EMBERS AND ECHOES hadn't been mythology-related, I definitely would have had a double Cover Crazy again today, and I always hate overwhelming you guys like that.  (But maybe you like it?  I don't know, you'll have to tell me!)

For this week, I picked a cover I've been longing to see:

THE CROWN OF EMBERS by Rae Carson:

Then again, maybe I SHOULD have had both covers in one post.  I just realized both books ahve the word EMBERS in the title (Yes, I'm slow).  We could have totally had a face-off: Which Embers book do you like more? lol!  But...they're completely different, so yeah...

I personally love love LOVE this cover.  I was so excited when I was trolling around my 2012 TBR on GoodReads yesterday and saw that the cover was up.  Apparently, Rae Carson revealed it on her blog earlier this month, but I didn't catch it.

I loved the first book's cover (shown, right) as well.  At first, I was sad the cover for THE GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS changed because I liked the first one, but I like that they kept the model image the same, and honestly, I like this cover so much more.  It's so...epic and unique!  I really love the first cover and it's so pretty in person, too (Especially my copy since Rae Carson touched it herself, lol!).

I also think I like the cover for THE CROWN OF EMBERS more than I do THE GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS.  It's SO gorgeous.  I love the color scheme and I adore the pose of the girl in the Godstone.  The background is so incredibly gorgeous.  I can't stop LOOKING at this.  And this time, Cinda Williams Chima (Who've I've recently begun reading) blurbed it.  Gah, this cover makes me want to read this book even more than I already do!!

I cannot WAIT to see what the final book looks like (Because it must be even BETTER, right? LOL!) and what heavy-weight fantasy author blurbs the amazing Rae Carson next!

Also, if you HAVEN'T read THE GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS yet, what on earth are you waiting for?  It's been shortlisted for several awards and is a lush fantasy novel that no fantasy-lover should be without.  Need more convincing?  Check out my review!

What do you think? Which of Rae Carson's cover do you like better?  And if I HAD done a Battle of the Embers post, which one would win in your book?

  1. I loved Girl of Fire and Thorns, but I was disappointed that it was (sigh) forced into a series instead of ending things in one book. However, I will most certainly read the second one, as I thought Carson was amazing.

    1. I'm annoyed by all of the series out there right now. Why is that the big thing? I LOVE one-shots. I'm an impatient girl, lol! But at the same time...I love knowing that I'll have more to read by the author right away!

  4. I like this cover a lot, but eeeehh I don't know, I still don't love how they put her head in the godstone. I think it's just because I'm hung up on the gross-out idea of a stone in her belly button (especially after that scene where she tried to cut it out! eewwww) Otherwise I really like it. It looks like there will be a lot of action in the book, and that always makes me happy.

    1. I think that's what makes it so unique, though. Putting her head in the godstone really makes her stand out!

That scene was pretty gross. Huh, in this case, I probably shouldn't tell you about the weird dream I had recently that might be book-worthy!
