If you like video games and fairy tales, then you really need to be playing Child of Light from Ubisoft. It's available as a PC Game, as well as being for Playstation and XBox. I downloaded the game via Playstation Network and played it in its entirety on my PS3.

[And if you're NOT a gamer, you can still "watch" the story without playing the game like a movie!

DON'T WATCH THIS VIDEO IF YOU PLAN TO PLAY THIS GAME. INSTEAD, WATCH THE FOLLOWING TRAILER!

FOR THE NON-GAMER
THE COMPLETE STORY
(FULL of spoilers!):

G A M E   T R A I L E R:

The duke’s daughter Aurora is dead… and yet, she lives. Join Aurora across the mysterious kingdom of Lemuria on her quest to return home. Helped by Igniculus the firefly, Finn the Capilli and many more, she must defeat the Queen of the Night who has stolen the sun, the moon and the stars.

The game centers around a fallen princess named Aurora who awakens in a strange realm after being poisoned by her evil stepmother. She discovers that light is being drained from the world and that her father has fallen ill. Darkness is coming, and Aurora may be the only one who can save the land she loves. If that doesn't hook you, nothing will! ^.~

Child of Light is easy enough that if you're not a hardcore gamer, you can still play and have fun and beat the game. There are lots of treasures and battle spoils to collect that can get you through tough boss fights. If you're more adept at playing games, you may not need these items to breeze through the game. The fighting style is reminiscent of my beloved Final Fantasy games. There are a TON of characters who can join your party (You don't have to snag them, but if you do, you get a Trophy each time!). I didn't use most of my party members, to be honest. I relied on 3-4 of them, and a couple of them never had any gameplay at all. I also never used a single potion or battle item when fighting and never died in battle. If you've played RPGs before, make sure to encounter ever beastie on your journey for experience, and level up your party; you can coast right through this game. It's only ten chapters long, so I tried to draw the game out as long as possible, but you could play this in a day or two if you were a hardcore gamer.

Even though the game is easy (Or "normal" if you're not a big gamer and just want to play for the story!! You'll still get through it, I think!), it's worth playing just for the story if you're a fan of fairy tales and fantasy. I enjoyed seeing Aurora's world unfurl and expand. There are also some really beautiful ideas in the story, such as collecting wishes or speaking in rhyme, or collecting all of the Confessions that detail history in a fun, whimsical fashion. There's also darkness tinging the light, as is present in all good fairy tales, so things never get boring. The only thing I didn't like about the game was the fact that the first several chapters have a spider as a battle character, and at one point, that's the level's big bad boss. I'm hugely arachnophobic! I discovered that if I looked solely at the left side of the screen at my characters and didn't look at the right side at all, I could get through. Granted, I took more damage and battles lasted longer because I had no clue what the spider creatures were doing, but it's how I dealt with it!

I first heard about Child of Light one day when I was inside Best Buy and they were running a game trailer. The game went on sale for half-price during the holidays on PSN, so I scooped it up. Even at full price, however, it's not expensive: only $14.99. Definitely worth the price if you're looking for a game with an intriguing story!

There's also a collector's edition, but I have no clue what that retails for!
