SEPTEMBER TBR PILE!

Thanks to a conversation with Ashley from Books from Bleh to Basically Amazing, Misty from The Book Rat, and Allison from The Allure of Books the other night on Twitter, I decided to post a list of the books I’m hoping to read in September. Will I get to them all? …Realistically? Probably not. There are always books that I wind up picking up that I never planned on. But we’ll see!

(As you can see, there are more books in that picture than what I even listed...^^;; Also, sorry for the poor lighting. It's a rainy day and I must make do with what I have! If you think that's a lot, you should see the other side of my headboard...)
So what will I be reading? Let's break it down!
THE NIGHT CIRCUS by Erin Morgenstern/ALL THESE THINGS I’VE DONE by Gabrielle Zevin/BREADCRUMBS by Anne Ursu/AUDITION by Stasia Ward Kehoe/SWEET VENOM by Tera Lynn Childs/WITCH SONG by Amber Argyle

These are the books I’m currently planning to read this week. I’m actively reading two of these at the moment and have to prep upcoming events with two of the other titles on this list.

LEGEND by Marie Lu/EVE by Anna Carey/GLOW by Amy Kathleen Ryan/WILDWOOD by Colin Meloy/WISDOM’S KISS by Catherine Gilbert Murdock
These are some ARCs I’d like to get to this month. While LEGEND is the only one I can really put off since it doesn’t come out until the end of November, it’s also the one I want to read the most!

LOLA & THE BOY NEXT DOOR by Stephanie Perkins/SHADOWS ON THE MOON by Zoë Marriott/THE UNWANTEDS by Lisa McMann/HUNTRESS by Malinda Lo/LEVIATHAN by Scott Westerfeld
These are books I’m really looking forward to. LOLA is finally coming out! OMG, yay! (Did you ever think I’d freak over a teen contemporary novel? No, neither did I. Stephanie Perkins, what do you do to me?) I imported Zoë Marriott’s novel in July and planned to read it on my birthday, but STILL haven’t had a chance to. That’s a big goal for September. I’ve really been looking forward to THE UNWANTEDS, and am so glad it’s finally out! And HUNTRESS…ahh, I should have read that this past spring! I still have to give you a GIVEAWAY. But I have yet to r&r! With the release of GOLIATH this month, I can finally read LEVIATHAN & BEHEMOTH (only first book in series pictured).

HOUNDED by Kevin Hearne/THESE THINGS HIDDEN by Heather Gudenkauf/A RACE TO SPLENDOR by Ciji Ware/THE BLACK PRISM by Brent Weeks
Even I can’t read all YA all the time. I need some adult novels in my life, too. I’m reading one right now (THE NIGHT CIRCUS…fab, fab, fab!) and hope to add these four to my September tally. Will I finally get around to reading HOUNDED (and the two sequels) this month? I sure hope so! I’ve also been dying to read THESE THINGS HIDDEN since it came out last spring. I’ve been sitting on an ARC of A RACE TO SPLENDOR for a while, and after all the recent chatter over earthquakes again, I’m in the mood to read this now! I saw THE BLACK PRISM at work today, then saw an ad for it on Goodreads and it sounds interesting, so I might check it out!

Are any of these on your list to read? How about this month? There are so many other books coming out in September that I want to read (it’s like a book explosion!), but I have to TRY to narrow it down. I don’t by any means hold myself to this list. For example, during Bout of Books, I only wanted to read contemporary fiction, even though my list mostly consisted of fantasy titles. (Four of the unread titles from Bout made their way into my September pile, and I’ve since finished three of the books I didn’t get to during that week, leaving only two books that haven’t carried over (but still might get read)….

Ugh, that’s the one bad thing about being an avid reader AND book blogger. You wind up with WAY too much to read!!! It doesn’t matter how fast a reader you are.

  1. I've been wanting to read Brent Weeks for months and months now! I'm nearly to the end of the Wheel of Time series, so I've been really curious about him. Oh, and Leviathan, too!

  2. *is jealous of all your awesome ARCs* LOLA & LEGEND are both supposed to be fantastic! Can't wait :D

  3. Cave in and bump Legend up!! I loved it, it's awesome :D SQUEE! SO EXCITED FOR LOLA!!! Stephanie Perkins has done something to us all. Like, seriously messed with our DNA or something. Such excess of talent ought to be illegal.

Really want to read Sweet Venom, Witch Song and Eve. I feel your pain though, once upon a time I obsessively reread books over and over again. These days? I'll be lucky to get through every book once! So many, so little time, yet I don't want the neverending stream of awesome books to stop :)

    Good luck reading all these!

  4. I hope you like Leviathan! I've been waiting to read Behemoth until Goliath was out too!

  5. SO MANY GOOD ONES!!! I really want to get a copy of Wildwood, I'm looking forward to that like crazy.
    ENJOY!

  6. @K.C.: I just heard about the Weeks novel but it sounds really good! Is WHEEL OF TIME good? I've looked at it a couple of times, but I'm never sure!

@Danya: Not every one of those books is an ARC. Mostly the one row..and some of what I'm reading this week. For example, LOLA will be a book I have to go out and buy (I already pre-ordered it)...sadly, no ARC! I want to read it (and LEGEND!) so badly!

  7. @Brodie: If I have time this week, I'll try to get to LEGEND, otherwise, prob. next week. I was so happy to win the copy PJ Hoover was giving away!!! And I know, right!? Stephanie Perkins, what do you DO to us?? Is it sad that I already want 2012's fall release ISLA AND THE HAPPILY EVER AFTER?

I wish I could still re-read! I really want to...esp. when a new book comes out. When I was reading HADES, there was a lot I *didn't* remember about HALO and it hindered me, lol!

  8. @LHughes: You're back now? Will have to email you! Yay us for waiting to read a finished trilogy. Waiting on THE MAZE RUNNER trilogy, too!

@Misty: I know, right? What to choose!? It was hard narrowing it down THIS much! WILDWOOD sounds so good...and when the ARC compared it to Narnia, well, I was a total goner!

  9. Yay!! :D Even if you totally don't follow through with any of the books listed, isn't this fun!? But... a vlog would have been better! Ashley is still wanting to see you talking for realz! :P

  10. @Ashley: I didn't have time to do a vlog, tbh. I'm also not sure how to do a vlog where you see me. My camcorder is the size of my cellphone and it's not a webcam, so it's not really easy to prop... I'll work on it, though. For YOU. Because you're my Ashley :)

I hope I get to read all of these. Okay, 90%! I already know of a few books I'm slipping in that aren't on that list, lol!

  11. wow! you are such a quick reader! lots of great looking novels there!

  12. I absolutely loved Leviathan.

  13. oh my gosh, I am drowning under my blog books too! Ok, to help you narrow things down a bit....READ HOUNDED! Seriously, best. druid. ever! And his dog is hilarious. And his lawyers. It's a series but each book ends as a standalone.

I liked Glow a lot, but I had trouble with it in the beginning because I didn't like any of the characters. I still don't, but I think it's just that kind of book.

As for what other September releases you should get...The Princess Curse by Merrie Haskell! I LOVED it!

I'm curious to see what you think of Breadcrumbs. i finally finished it, but it really wasn't for me.
